Advanced Rider & Teacher Training

The principal behind the Level 0 Rider Biomechanics Course is to have an introductory course predominantly for beginner coaches & advanced riders to get their very first start in Biomechanics.

It also enables the riders to be registered with the International Society of Rider Biomechanics (ISRB)

At the end of this course you will be able to:

teach a beginner rider safely, with respect & understanding of the Official FEI Rules & legal aspects of teaching.

assess the rider’s position, know the 4 major tests for the rider’s body: Can they be pulled forward (putting weight on the forehand), backwards (making the horse hollow), sideways (making the horse crooked), and shoulder hip heel -vs- the chair seat - quite a surprise with some of our latest research and testing methods!

correct crookedness on the straight line, falling in, jack-knifing & understand why (and how to fix!) cross over of the horse’s legs on  the circle.

understand the horse’s way of going in the 3 paces of walk, trot and canter, and gain a much higher level of understanding of footfalls, how the horse moves and speeds (tempo or beats per minute) of each pace.

understand engagement vs. on the forehand and how the rider puts the horse in poor balance.

u understand lengthening vs. collection:  Longer -vs- faster.   Shorter -vs- slower

Dearest Colleen,

You have made the biggest difference in my daughter's life!!!!

We did your clinic in March of this year (We are the Botetourt 4-H) and you inspired my daughter and her friend to reach levels I wasn't sure they would be able to.

It wasn't so much your teaching, or what you showed them. It was merely your words. Your words carried so much weight that they went home and have been working like little demons ever since!

It is a bit irritating though....... because I had said the very same thing to both of them and did I work magic??!! NO I'm just a mom!  Musta been your magic silver tongue!! LOL....

Again, much thanks and God Bless

Botetourt 4-H Horse and Pony Club

gain a basic understanding of the modern jumping position, and recent innovative research on balance and position.

gain a true understanding of an emergency stop (not a dangerous 'breaker's turn'), and an emergency dismount, and the obvious dangerous alternative of not knowing how to stop a bolting horse (or worse doing a breaker's turn with the ability of flipping the horse over), and not being able to get off safely and quickly.  If a vaulter can jump off a cantering horse....so can your pupils!

Extras:

As an “added extra’ (not part of this examination process for Level 0) you will get to know how absolutely simple the movements of shoulder in, travers and half pass are to perform, and why people have so much difficulty teaching and riding them.

You will also get a bonus of knowing the really best tools of the trade from some of the greatest teaching minds in the world.

Cost and Upgrading Qualifications:

We believe in making education affordable and accessible.  The Level 0 Certificate Course is now available completely via correspondence through videos and course material.   At a cost of only $540, it makes it affordable and accessible to everyone around the world.

Level 1 Training Days will be held in 2010 in the USA, Australia, UK and South Africa.

For the first time this course is now fully available through correspondence!    Limited numbers of teachers will be accepted each year.  Email us for more info and an application form......
