Horse Education for free?
Equitana, lectures, horse
riding when you don't have the money
In the past
30-some years I have had access to the world's greatest trainers in the
fields of biomechanics, dressage, jumping, reining, polox, saddle
fitting, vet science, farriery/hoof care & nutrition.
Volunteer
Volunteer at
Equitana, volunteer to pencil. Eventers & jumpers should volunteer
as jump stewards.
Only by
spending the hours under the direction of the officials to you ever get
to really understand their side.
You get to see
so many things, for free, and see "backstage". It's a terrific
experience.
Clinics
Arrange a
clinic in your area, often if the clinic is full the clinician may offer
you a free lesson.
Be cheeky!
Jumpers might,
nicely, go up to a senior jumper, even one of the stars, and ask if they
could walk the course with them. Amazing how much you can learn
that way.
It's amazing
how many people are afraid to ask. Often clinicians will do
"drop by" visits for your club as a donation.

NCAS
NCAS trainers
are always looking for guinea pig riders for training days and for
exams. Volunteering can teach you a LOT! For free.
Go to a judge's clinic
You have to make a
choice, right now, if you're going to be professional, or if you're going to
just ride around the back yard.
Know what is
correct or incorrect.
You must know what the judge's REALLY want, and there's a lot of mis-information
out there.
Every sport
has their own rules & organizations, but are very welcoming to beginner
judges, and normally welcome your attendance, even if you don't sit
exams. Contact your State
EFA or
USDF
or similar.
Can't afford the horse?
Work at the barn,
put out an advert to help an owner.
Never give up
Have a look at
what
success can be achieved with very
little money, lots of hard work, and
never giving up.
