Holding one
shoulder more forward than the other is a very common problem, and results in the horse going crooked.
Just think of
sitting on a surfboard. If you hold one shoulder more forward, then
surfboard won't be straight any more.
The shoulders,
elbows & hands must be absolutely straight on straight lines, and
especially for jumping.
When it comes
to advanced work on straight lines such as piaffe or flying changes then
it becomes highly noticeable to the judge.
When it comes
to jumping: If the left shoulder is more forward, the horse
normally will tap the rail with their right hind.

Q.
When you ride toward the video or mirror...which shoulder is forward...left or
right?
Q.
If I put
two little torches under your armpits, where would the lights point?
I actually do this for kids camps quite a lot!
