101 Ways to Improve Your Riding:
Seat Posture & Balance

10 Best Tips to Improve the
Rider's Head

 8.     USING AUDITORY TRAINING

Great fix for Dressage Head "Nod"

When your head bobs up and down, not only does it look bad, you will loose marks, and the horse will become stiff and above the bit.

And worse...sometimes the rider's pony tail doesn't just go 'up and down' in a traditional head nod...it actually goes round and round in circles like a helicopter!

 Using Auditory Training

Modern sports people and athletes use auditory training all the time...listening to the bounce of the ball on the racquet...listening to the sound of the golf swing, and the way it hits the ball.  It is an essential part of many martial arts.

Why not use this advanced way of training to improve dressage head nod, one of the most difficult faults to fix in the rider.

Q. If you tied a bell to your pony tail (or pretend pony tail) would it ring?

Q. If you were wearing little earrings with bells...would they ring?

Q. Does the peak of your helmet rattle?

 Make it worse!

We are always trying to IMPROVE and make things BETTER all the time, where in fact it has been proven that one of the best ways to learn is to make a fault WORSE!

So...make the "pony tail bell" ring MORE and then be still again.   Then again make it WORSE, and then still again.

By making the 'bell-ringing' WORSE you will fix dressage head nod faster than any other method I have tried.
