| 1. Are their any fences with nails or rails down?
I once was riding in an arena and my coach
heard a kick from inside one of the stables next to us. When she
looked the horse was holding one leg up. There wasn't even any blood.
Two hours later the horse was put down. It had punctured a tendon on a
nail they couldn't even see. And, this was a HIGHLY professional
facility! Imagine what can happen if the fences are OBVIOUSLY falling
down?

| 2. Is there a history of skinny horses?
Greedy horse & property owners are VERY
convincing in their arguments 'oh we've just rescued this horse'...or 'this
horse doesn't belong to me, it's just kept here'.
If you have seen horses on properties
that look like this photo

| 3. Would you be comfortable asking to see the facility's
worming register? Greedy property
owners will often charge you for worming when it hasn't actually been done.
In addition, worm control is not just about worming your own horse, but
worming the entire property, and serious pasture control

| 4. Do you think the facility would be comfortable if you asked
their veterinarian for a reference, and a comment on recent cases?
We are proud of our horse
record, my vet would be happy to speak to you about our cases...going back
to the mid 1970's!!! Would your care facility be the same?

| 5. Often feet can be OK, but would the facility be
happy for you to speak to their dentist, and see if ALL the horses have been
seen in the last 6 months? If you've
paid for the dentist on your monthly bill, and you weren't there....ring the
dentist and DESCRIBE YOUR HORSE EXACTLY. Greedy property owners
have been known to replace their own horses with agisted horses so they
don't have to pay for their own horse's teeth being done!

| 6. If you did a 'spot inspection' tomorrow, would the
automatic waters or troughs have green balls of muck?
Many many times I have found rats & mice in
automatic waters...and they've been there for a LONG time! They
have to be checked daily. You do not need to be a scientist to see
green balls of toxic muck in the troughs. And if you are settling for
'second best'....perhaps you need to really rethink your OWN level of care,
or you could be accused of being as bad as the greedy pet & animal care
facility owner.
